Wayne Walls Jr. began racing at the tender age of 15 by winning the first 7 races he entered.  This would be a preview of things to come.  He would go through a number of years where he would learn the ins and outs of racing, struggle with inferior equipment and discover that you have to finish before you can win.  After a decent year in 1987, the team took a huge leap.  They garnered funds from 10-15 crew members and purchased a used car from local dirt track ace, Rodney Franklin.  This proved to be the recipe for success.  Working closely with the Franklin crew, Wayne's brother Larry was able to dial in the Bullet Chassis for 23 feature victories and 2 track championships in 1988.   From then until now, Wayne and his razor sharp crew have been the dominant force in the Limited Late model/Late Model Sportsman division.   Wayne was able to try his hand briefly in the Late Model division and was very successful in his rookie and sophomore years, winning a track Championship.   Unfortunately, a lack of funds will force Wayne back to the Late Model Sportsman ranks.  Wayne still searches for that chance to ultimately prove himself as a Late model driver, but for now he is happy racing alongside his son Mike.

Wayne has returned to drive for Charles Laye again in 2004. Having upgraded nearly every aspect of their program, the team is very optimistic about it's chances in 2004.
